Blogging Tips Reflection

The two tips that I'm choosing are "Use Images" and "Read and Comment".  I chose "use images" because I feel that pictures and videos really add a personal touch to blogs. It also makes blogs interesting and not bland or boring which is something I want to avoid. Using images, charts, photos, videos, and data can help me as a writer since it can give support to any argumentative writing that I need to do.

I chose "read and comment" since it keeps me intersted and focused in others' blogs. Reading other blogs can also give a lot of inspiration to me and my future blogs which is always good in order to keep things fresh. Commenting on others' blogs gives other authors feedback in order to improve or it gives them compliments on what they're doing right. These are tips for blogging that I feel are most important for me.

Trip I Want to Take

In the future I really want to visit Japan. I feel like going to Japan for a vacation will be a very interesting experience. I always fascinated about things from Japan and I would like to know more about the culture there. Things such as video games, shows, books, etc. that I like come from Japan and, based on photos, the nature there seems to be very pleasing. Hopefully I'll be able to visit there someday in my future.

Summer Reading Blog

Summary: Beastkeeper by Cat Hellisen tells the story of 13 year old girl, Sarah. Sarah and her parents don't have quite a normal life since they're always moving. One day her mother walks out of the family and Sarah's father takes her to her grandparents' home; people whom Sarah didn't even know existed. Sarah's soon finds out about the strange, cursed family she's part of. She uncovers the curses on top of curses and tries to resolve them.

Character analysis: Sarah feels lonely once she starts living with her grandmother. She lives in a mysterious, magical castle now, away from her parents in the blink of an eye. On page 57, the author states, "I didn't help. The tears she'd been fighting against ever since her father had told her to pack her things finally came flooding out...she didn't care if it made her seem like a frightened little kid right now. All she wanted was something familiar and cushiony to hold." This all shows the vulnerable emotions Sarah has of being alone, just wanting something to be a little like home.

Sarah also treats others with a sense of mercy. Towards the end of the book, Sarah turns into a beast due to the curse. Now that she's a beast she now has the opportunity to kill one of her grandmothers, Freya, who's the witch who started the curses which lead to other curses. In the text, it said, "She [Sarah] closed her teeth around Freya's threat and held her..." "Even now, I [Freya] am stronger than you could ever be...I could call down birds to tear your eyes out, I could even raise storms that would strip the skin right off you bones-" "So why don't you? Sarah said. why.dont.you" "The same reason you will not close your teeth and tear cut my throat." (P.191) This shows the type of acts Sarah will do.

Where I See Myself in 10 Years

My goal in life, in general, is to have an almost care-free future. Getting there will take the best of me but I see a lot of potential in myself. I plan on being dedicated on my school work and thus I will be in a good high school and college; which one? I don't know.

In 10 years, I will be 24 years old. I see myself in college trying to get myself a degree that way I can get a good job with good pay. Once I decide on a career I have to first enjoy it. If I don the like it, then I most likely will quit it. I do, however, want to work for NASA because I really do enjoy space and everything about it.

A dream addition to my goals, is to just settle down early. A way to getting there is to win the lottery with a big win. These are my goals for life and I plan on succeeding.
